Influences, Effects and Styles we like:
These are a few screenshots and trailer clips we found during our research that we liked and thought we may implement into our trailer.
The images above are a series of screenshots taken from some sci-fi/horror trailers. I have selected these shots as I think they would make my trailer look professional. As you can see several were taken from the trailer for Extraterrestrial, a sci-fi/thriller trailer based on invasion. I have explored different genres in order to get a wide range of ideas for my trailer. The main thing I like in the majority of these screenshots is the lighting used. As you can see the two largest images are only lit in the centre of the frame and even then it is difficult to see any detail. The bottom clip I particularly liek because the angle of the shot gives a foreboding sense that something scary is about to happen.
I also really like the CCTV effect as shown in the image from 'The Taking of Deborah Logan'. Although it is not a real cctv camera it gives the effect of being real. This is done in a similar program to after effects in order to get the cctv look.
This clip comes from the trailer for the film 'Lucy' which is a thriller film. I pulled this clip out of the trailer after watched it to gain knowledge on thriller trailers. What I really like about this clip is the attention to detail, although it is only a 4 second clip there are 6 different shots of the pupil. In every single shot you are able to see the different colour and the shape of the actual pupil. The extreme close up allows the audience to see every detail about the eye.
The vibrant colours stood out to me because they caught my eye quickly and caused me to go back and view the clip several times. It could be something we implement into our trailer.
